Idlib, Syria – Two people were killed and several others injured on Tuesday in two drone strikes in Syria’s northwest Idlib province.

The Syrian Civil Defence, known as the White Helmets, said on Facebook that a drone strike targeted a car near the town of Atmeh, close to the Turkish border, killing one person and injuring four others. The vehicle was hit near the Karama displacement camps, where many internally displaced Syrians live.

A second drone strike about an hour earlier hit a motorcycle carrying two people on the road between Sarmada and Bardaqli in northern Idlib. One person was killed and another wounded, the White Helmets said.

The drones involved are suspected to belong to the U.S.-led coalition that has continued operations in the region against ISIS.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has previously confirmed targeting senior members of the “Hurras al-Din”, an al-Qaeda affiliate active in Idlib.

In March, CENTCOM said it conducted a precision drone strike that killed Mohamed Youssef Diab Talay, a senior military leader of Hurras al-Din. The U.S. military has emphasized its ongoing commitment to degrading terrorist networks capable of planning attacks against Western interests.
