Damascus, Syria – Israeli warplanes carried out earlier today a series of airstrikes targeting military positions in southern Syria, including areas around Damascus, Daraa, and Quneitra countryside, Syrian state media reported.
The Syrian State News Channel Al-Ikhbariyah said Israeli aircraft targeted positions in the towns of Saasa and Kanaker, southwest of Damascus countryside and near the border with Quneitra province. Additional strikes were reported near Izraa in northern Daraa and in the Tal al-Shaar area of Quneitra. There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.
The escalation comes after the Israeli military said two rockets were fired from Syria into open areas in southern Golan, triggering sirens in the towns of Hispin and Ramat Magshimim. No injuries or damage were reported.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz blamed Syria’s transitional leadership for allowing attacks to be launched from its territory. “We consider the Syrian president directly responsible for every threat and firing towards the State of Israel, and the full response will come as soon as possible. We will not allow a return to the reality of October 7th.” Katz said, warning of a forthcoming response.
The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that a little-known group calling itself the “Martyr Mohammed Deif Brigades” claimed responsibility for the rocket fire.
Israeli artillery also shelled areas near the Syrian Israeli border on Tuesday, and witnesses reported to +963 that Israeli tank deployments and reconnaissance drone activity across Daraa and Quneitra provinces.
