The Israeli army launched artillery strikes today, Tuesday, June 03, targeting areas near the southwestern Syrian border, a local source told +963.
According to the source, five artillery shells landed in the countryside of Daraa Governorate, near the border with Israel.
The same source reported military movements by Israeli forces along the Syrian-Israeli border in Daraa and Quneitra governorates. This included the deployment of tanks, which coincided with the artillery bombardment.
The escalation followed the launch of two Grad missiles from Daraa toward the occupied Golan Heights, triggering sirens in the region.
The skies over Daraa and Quneitra also witnessed intense overflights by Israeli warplanes and reconnaissance drones, the source added.
Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that two missiles originating from Syrian territory exploded in open areas. Sirens were heard in Hispin and Ramat Magshimim in the southern Golan.
Earlier today, a local source confirmed to +963 that the Israeli army fired four artillery shells at the village of Koya in the Daraa countryside.
Meanwhile, on Monday, June 2, the Israeli military established a checkpoint in the countryside of Quneitra Governorate. A source told +963 that Israeli forces entered the village of al-Mushairfa, set up a military checkpoint, and began searching passers-by.
