Deir ez-Zor, east Syria – The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that its special “Commando Units,” in coordination with the U.S.-led international coalition, carried out two security operations targeting ISIS cells in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the SDF said the first operation took place in the village of Al-Bariha, in the al-Busaira area of eastern Deir ez-Zor. The raid led to the arrest of an ISIS member accused of participating in attacks against SDF forces and local civilians.
According to the statement, weapons and ammunition were seized during the operation.
The second raid occurred in the nearby village of Al-Sabha, where SDF forces dismantled an ISIS cell and detained two of its members. The suspects were reportedly involved in several attacks targeting security personnel and civilians in recent weeks.

The SDF reaffirmed its commitment to continue joint operations with the international coalition to “eradicate ISIS cells, cut off their financial and logistical networks, and prevent any terrorist activity that threatens the security and stability of northern and eastern Syria.”
Earlier this month, the SDF announced the arrest of another ISIS cell in eastern Deir ez-Zor after foiling what it described as an “imminent terrorist plot.” The suspects were detained following a coordinated surveillance and security operation in the town of al-Takihi.
