Tehran, Iran – A ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel reportedly came into effect on Tuesday morning, following nearly two weeks of intense hostilities.
Iranian news agency Mehr reported that the ceasefire has now officially taken effect. The report came shortly after former U.S. President Donald Trump announced the agreement in a post on the social media platform Truth Social.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the ceasefire in a public statement, saying, “In light of the achievement of the operation’s goals, and in full coordination with President Trump, Israel agreed to the President’s proposal for a mutual ceasefire.” He noted that the ceasefire would be implemented in phases and would bring an end to the fighting that escalated over the past twelve days. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel would “respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.”

Roughly 90 minutes before the ceasefire took effect, Iran launched five consecutive missile barrages toward Israel. There were no immediate reports of casualties from these attacks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “The military operations of our powerful Armed Forces to punish Israel for its aggression continued until the very last minute, at 4am.”
The conflict also briefly expanded to involve U.S. military assets in the region. On Monday, Iranian forces reportedly launched several missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which hosts U.S. forces. According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the missile operation was part of what Tehran called “Operation Glad Tidings of Victory.”

Reuters reported hearing multiple explosions over Qatar’s capital, Doha, following Iranian threats to retaliate for U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Qatar’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted the missile attack on Al Udeid and reported no casualties.
The recent escalation began approximately two weeks ago when Israel launched airstrikes against Iranian targets. Later, the United States also conducted significant strikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites, Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, just two days prior to the ceasefire.
