On Monday, June 23, the Iranian army launched a missile attack targeting the Al Udeid Air Base in the State of Qatar, according to international media reports.
The Iranian Tasnim agency reported that Iran commenced a missile operation against American bases in Qatar under the name “Bishara al-Fath.”
Reuters confirmed that several explosions were heard in the skies over the Qatari capital, Doha, hours after Tehran threatened to respond to U.S. airstrikes that had targeted Iranian nuclear facilities.
The Qatari Ministry of Defence stated that air defence systems intercepted a missile attack aimed at Al Udeid Air Base, confirming that there were no casualties resulting from the Iranian strike.
American officials indicated that Iran has begun moving missile launchers to strategic positions, a move seen as preparation for a potential broader assault on U.S. forces stationed throughout the Middle East.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon is closely tracking what it describes as “a credible threat” against U.S. military installations in the region, a senior official said.
Fox News reported that the U.S. military is preparing to confront what it views as an imminent Iranian strike on American bases in the Middle East.
The network, citing informed intelligence sources, stated that current warnings highlight the possibility of an Iranian attack using short- or medium-range cruise missiles or drones. The anticipated retaliation follows a recent American airstrike that targeted three nuclear sites inside Iran.
The report also noted that the United States relocated most of its non-essential aircraft from Al Udeid base last week, ahead of the strike ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump against Iran’s nuclear program.
Fox News emphasised that Al Udeid Air Base currently serves as the central hub for U.S. military and logistical operations in the Middle East and features the longest airstrip in the Gulf region.
On Sunday, senior U.S. officials at both the White House and the Pentagon warned of potential Iranian retaliatory strikes in response to the American attack on Tehran’s nuclear infrastructure.
According to NBC News, U.S. officials expressed serious concern over a possible Iranian response in the coming hours that could target American military bases across the region.
They added that the nature of Iran’s expected retaliation remains unclear, including whether it will target American or Israeli positions, either within the Middle East or beyond.
U.S. Secretary of Defence Pete Higgseth affirmed that the United States “does not seek war, but will respond swiftly and decisively if its interests or allies are threatened.”
He further stated that “the strikes destroyed Iran’s nuclear ambitions,” although he acknowledged it remains difficult to confirm the impact without U.S. ground forces present, as reported by NBC News.
