The committee was established by a presidential decree issued by the head of the transitional period, Ahmed al-Sharaa.
During a meeting held at the People’s Assembly headquarters in Damascus on Tuesday, June 17, the committee estimated that it would require between two to three months to complete its assigned tasks, according to the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The purpose of these visits is to coordinate with official authorities and civil society actors regarding the electoral process and to ensure that preparations for the elections are completed in a timely and organised manner.
