Deir ez-Zor, Syria – The U.S.-led global coalition and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted joint military drills in eastern Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province on Friday, reinforcing their ongoing partnership to combat the resurgence of ISIS.
A military source told +963 that training took place near the Conoco gas field, an area strategically significant due to its energy resources. The drills included live-fire training and lasted several hours, demonstrating continued military coordination between coalition forces and the SDF.

Simultaneously, coalition troops stationed at the al-Omar oil field base in eastern Deir ez-Zor carried out a joint patrol with SDF units in the towns of Abu Hamam and al-Jardhi. The patrols are part of ongoing security operations aimed at preventing ISIS sleeper cells from regaining influence in the region.
In a related move, coalition forces also conducted reconnaissance patrols in the eastern desert of Deir ez-Zor, specifically near the al-Tanak oil field, inspecting former military sites.

Earlier this week, the coalition held nighttime artillery drills at the al-Omar oil field base, which lasted until late Tuesday night, underscoring the continued military presence in the region. On Wednesday, additional patrols were conducted in the towns of al-Tayana, al-Shannan, Darnaj, and al-Jardhi, where coalition forces inspected SDF military positions before moving towards the desert and later returning to the al-Omar base.
