Deir ez-Zor, east Syria – The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that they had dismantled an ISIS cell in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, arresting two of its members during a security operation in the town of Dhiban.
In a statement published on its official website, the SDF said the operation was carried out by the Deir ez-Zor Military Council following “extensive surveillance and tracking.” The security units located the hideout, encircled the site, and successfully detained two militants involved in attacks on military positions in the area. Weapons and ammunition were also seized during the raid.

According to the statement, the captured fighters were directly involved in targeting posts belonging to the Deir ez-Zor Military Council. The SDF stressed that it will continue security and military operations to root out ISIS cells and prevent further attempts to destabilize the region.
Earlier this month, the SDF concluded another major operation in the town of Gharanij, also in Deir ez-Zor countryside, which led to the detention of 12 suspects accused of affiliation with ISIS. That operation also freed four kidnapped fighters from the Deir ez-Zor Military Council who had been abducted from a health centre outside their official duties.
