Damascus, Syria – Israeli forces carried out multiple airstrikes followed by an airborne raid on a Syrian military position in the southern outskirts of Damascus on Wednesday, according to our correspondent.
Heavy bombardments targeted positions of the Syrian Army’s 44th Division near the town of al-Kiswah, in the Rif Dimashq Governorate and approximately 13 kilometres south of Damascus, resulting in casualties among Syrian troops, though exact figures remain unclear.
“Following the strikes, Israeli forces conducted a helicopter-borne operation near Jabal al-Mana, which lasted for nearly two hours,” our correspondent said.
Syria’s state news agency (SANA) quoted a government source saying that the attack came shortly after Syrian troops discovered surveillance and monitoring devices near Jabal al-Mana. As they attempted to dismantle them, the site was struck by Israeli aircraft, leaving several soldiers dead or wounded and causing material damage.
The report added that Israeli drones and jets continued to restrict access to the area throughout the day, while Syrian units attempted to destroy parts of the monitoring systems and recover bodies from the site.

Later in the evening, additional Israeli airstrikes hit the area, followed by another airborne landing, though details remain scarce amid continued reconnaissance flights.
The incident came a day after six Syrian soldiers were killed in an Israeli drone strike near al-Kiswah. The Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks, labelling them a “grave violation of international law and Syrian sovereignty” and urged the UN Security Council to act against Israel’s repeated aggression.
Israeli media, citing defence officials, said the army maintains control of elevated positions near Mount Hermon in southern Syria as part of its ongoing security operations. Since the collapse of the Assad government late last year, Israel has expanded ground incursions several kilometres into the countryside of Quneitra and Daraa, southwestern Syria, establishing new military outposts along the border region.
