Quneitra, southern Syria– An Israeli army force arrested three young men in the countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, taking them to an undisclosed location without providing any reasons for the detention, a local source told +963.
According to a local source, the youths were grazing sheep in Saida, in the southern countryside of Quneitra, when they were arrested by Israeli forces. The arrest occurred amid a heavy deployment of Israeli troops in the area, raising concerns among residents.
The ceasefire line in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights continues to witness repeated violations by the Israeli forces, including arbitrary arrests and restrictions on civilian movement, according to the source.
On Friday morning, Israeli military forces advanced into the town of Rafid in southern Quneitra from the nearby area of Fars in the occupied Golan Heights.
A local source reported to +963 that the Israeli force consisted of approximately 20 soldiers, backed by armoured vehicles and other heavy machine guns.
The source added that the troops set up a checkpoint near the house of the town’s Mayor, where they questioned residents regarding the recent killing of dozens of sheep in the area a couple of days earlier.
Earlier this month, Israeli military units initiated a mine clearance operating along the border strip in Quneitra.
A local source told +963 that plumes of smoke were seen rising near the border, accompanied by occasional explosions, which were repeatedly the result of the Israeli army detonating mines that were being removed from the area.
