A military delegation from the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) visited several locations in the western countryside of Daraa in southern Syria on Monday, April 7, following a series of recent Israeli airstrikes and ground incursions.

A Syrian security source told +963 that a 10-vehicle UNDOF convoy toured Tall al-Jamaa, near the city of Nawa, to assess areas impacted by Israeli military actions earlier this month.

According to the source, the UN delegation conducted a field tour of Tall al-Jamaa, where Israeli forces had launched attacks in early April. The delegation later visited the Hirsh Jubailia Dam area, which had also witnessed Israeli operations and clashes with residents that resulted in multiple deaths and injuries.

The UN observers reportedly documented extensive damage, including to military positions formerly held by Syrian regime forces, caused by the Israeli bombardment.

The delegation then split into two groups: one proceeded to UN outposts in Jumla, a town in rural Daraa, while the other travelled to the al-Rafid base in the southern countryside of Quneitra.

On April 1, Israeli ground forces had advanced into the area surrounding the Jubailia Dam, between Nawa and Tsele, where clashes with residents resulted in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to several others.

Simultaneously, Israeli aircraft targeted military sites across Damascus, Hama, and Homs, including strikes on the Hama Military Airport, the T-4 Airbase in eastern Homs, and a scientific research centre on Barza Street in Damascus, all of which reportedly caused casualties.

According to media reports, the Israeli military has conducted dozens of incursions into the Daraa and Quneitra countryside in recent months. It has established seven permanent military positions within Syrian territory.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz recently stated that Tel Aviv intends to maintain a long-term and indefinite presence in southwestern Syria and around the Mount Sheikh area.
