Damascus, Syria – Syrian Minister of Information Hamza Al-Mustafa discussed on Thursday with Jean-Baptiste Favre, the Chargé d’Affaires at the French Embassy in Syria, the possibility of launching Monte Carlo International Radio’s broadcast operations from Damascus.

According to the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the two sides also discussed opportunities to boost media cooperation and benefit from French expertise to develop Syria’s media sector.

SANA reported that the Minister of Information stressed Syria’s commitment to engage successful international experiences in the media field and praised the “historic ties between Syria and France.”

On June 30, the Ministry of Information signed a memorandum of understanding with Al-Maha International Company to launch the “Damascus Gateway” project; the country’s first integrated media, cinematic, and tourism production city.

The agreement was signed at the People’s Palace in Damascus under the patronage of Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa.

Minister Al-Mustafa stated that the project is valued at more than USD 1.5 billion and will cover nearly 2 million square meters in Damascus.

He explained that the city will include outdoor studios reflecting traditional Arab and Islamic architecture, as well as modern indoor studios equipped with the latest broadcasting technologies.

The project is expected to create around 4,000 direct jobs and 9,000 seasonal opportunities, as part of the government’s efforts to attract high-impact investments that boost development.

Mohammed Al-Anzi, Chairman of Al-Maha International Company, expressed pride in participating in this “strategic project,” praising the Syrian government’s role in facilitating its implementation.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to contributing to Syria’s reconstruction through cultural and creative investment.
