Quneitra, Southwest Syria – Israeli forces opened fire on demonstrators in the southern Quneitra countryside, in southwestern Syria, on Saturday, +963 correspondent reported.

Residents of the village of Saida al-Hanut gathered in protest against an Israeli patrol that had entered their village. The villagers managed to drive out the patrol, which then fired on the crowd to disperse them.

The past hours have seen a marked increase in Israeli incursions across Quneitra, with multiple military operations conducted near border villages. Israeli troops entered areas around Eastern Samdaniyah with vehicles, tanks, and armoured personnel carriers, and additional incursions were recorded near the village of Owania, with twelve military vehicles advancing from the Hamidiya base. The army also placed a metal gate at one of the minor entrances to Western Samdaniyah.

These developments follow ongoing Israeli activities in the Quneitra countryside, including clearing farmland, uprooting forest trees, and digging trenches west of Bir Ajam, approximately 200 metres from the Syrian-Israeli demarcation line.

Similar operations have taken place in villages such as Bureiqa, Bir Ajam, al-Qehtaniya, and Jibata al-Khashab. In Al-Adnaniyah, Israeli forces have fortified an existing military post, and in Western Samdaniyah, a permanent metal gate has been installed.

Local residents have expressed deep concern that these incursions, land clearance operations, and fortifications could signal a long-term Israeli presence near their villages.
