Suwayda, Syria – Syrian activists have documented the disappearance of 80 Druze women and girls during the recent wave of armed clashes and unrest in Suwayda province, southern Syria, over the past week.

The names of the missing individuals were published by Syrian activist Sawsan Abu Raslan on her official Facebook page. The list, she said, includes women who disappeared under various circumstances since the outbreak of hostilities.

“We hold the Syrian government, all its ministers, as well as civil society actors, international organizations operating in Syria, and the media that covered the departure of terrorists from Suwayda to Daraa, fully responsible for what has happened and continues to happen,” Abu Raslan wrote.

Meanwhile, the planned prisoner exchange between local factions and Bedouin tribes has yet to materialize. A scheduled operation in the village of Umm al-Zaytoun in northern Suwayda at 6:00 p.m. local time on Sunday showed no signs of preparation, according to our reporter.

State news agency SANA confirmed that negotiations over the exchange are ongoing. Government internal security forces have reportedly deployed on the outskirts of Suwayda to help enforce a ceasefire.

Earlier on Sunday, U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack announced a new agreement among all parties in Suwayda to halt hostilities, taking effect at 5:00 p.m. Damascus time.

In a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), Barrack said de-escalation cannot proceed without a “an agreement to pause violence, protect the innocent, allow humanitarian access, and step back from danger.”

He described the truce as a crucial first step toward restoring calm in the province and noted that the next phase would involve a full prisoner exchange. Preparations for the operation are reportedly underway.
