Beirut, Lebanon – The Israeli army announced on Monday that it had dismantled what it described as an Iranian Quds Force cell operating in the countryside of Daraa province, southwest Syria.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said in a statement on X that the operation was carried out by troops from the Alexandroni Brigade (Brigade 3) under the 210th Division.
According to Adraee, the overnight raid in the Tel Kodneh area was based on intelligence provided by Unit 504, Israel’s human intelligence unit.
He said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to prevent “any terrorist elements from establishing a foothold in Syria,” as he put it.

Adraee added that forces from the 210th Division remain deployed in southern Syria and will continue operations to counter what Israel sees as threats near its border.
On Sunday, the Israeli military also announced it had demolished former Syrian regime military positions in the Quneitra countryside, also in southwest Syria.
A military statement said special forces, together with the elite combat engineering unit Yahalom, carried out “precise demolition operations” targeting sites in the Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh) area that Israel claims posed a direct threat along the frontier.
Footage released by the Israeli army showed what it said were former regime military posts being blown up near the border.
