On Tuesday, May 20, Syrian Minister of Energy in the Transitional Government, Muhammad al-Bashir, met with a Turkish investment delegation in Damascus to explore potential cooperation in oil and gas projects.
According to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA), al-Bashir reviewed available opportunities in the energy sector during the meeting, emphasizing Syria’s readiness to engage with foreign investors.
Al-Bashir highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties and expanding cooperation between Syria and Türkiye, SANA reported.
The agency also noted that the Turkish delegation expressed interest in building strategic partnerships that would benefit both nations.
In a separate meeting on Monday, al-Bashir also held talks with representatives from a private American company to discuss investment prospects in Syria’s natural gas sector. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Energy’s headquarters in Damascus.

SANA reported that the Syrian minister reiterated his government’s aim to attract foreign investment, particularly in energy and infrastructure, to boost the country’s economic recovery.
Additionally, al-Bashir met with Qatari Ambassador to Damascus, Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud, to explore avenues for cooperation across various energy sectors.
The talks addressed challenges facing Syria’s oil, gas, electricity, and water resource sectors, as well as the ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve public services, according to SANA.
