Women in many societies face difficulties accessing reliable and comprehensive information about their physical and psychological health, their social and marital lives, and their rights in society.
Recent studies show that 70% of women in some developing regions suffer from a severe lack of health and psychological awareness, which negatively affects their lives and well-being.
In response to this need, UNICEF launched the LAAHA (For Her) platform, aimed at bridging this knowledge gap by offering diverse, comprehensive content accessible to all women, according to UNICEF representative Farah Hammoud during the second edition of the Beauty and Wellbeing Forum in Beirut.
The platform follows a scientific approach tailored to cultural and social contexts. It provides accurate, simplified information on topics often considered taboo, including sexuality, marital relations, mental and physical health, digital safety, and the impact of social media.
It also promotes awareness of women’s rights and explores ways to empower them. Reports indicate that in some communities, women have limited access to such information due to social or cultural restrictions.

What sets LAAHA apart is that it was designed and developed by an all-female team, breaking away from the global norm of male dominance in the tech sector.
The platform was developed in collaboration with active feminist organisations such as Kafa, The Association Against Violence Against Women, and Fe-Male, and was initially launched in Lebanon before expanding to 15 countries in eight different languages.
This marks a significant shift in the tech field, as the platform fosters women’s empowerment in technology and delivers innovative educational solutions tailored to their needs.
LAAHA is built to be inclusive and accessible, catering to users aged 16 and above and accommodating various educational backgrounds, including uneducated women, through a simple interface and visual and audio content (such as simplified videos and texts), which increases its potential reach.
LAAHA aims to be a genuine tool for empowerment, helping women improve their quality of life and make informed decisions.
As the platform expands into more countries, experts note that it has become a key instrument for promoting societal change and advancing women’s rights in regions where this support is urgently needed.
