The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) reported on Saturday, May 03, that 89 cases of arbitrary arrest were documented across Syria in April alone. Among those detained were nine children and four women.
Just a day earlier, on May 02, the SNHR had also disclosed that 174 civilians were killed in Syria during April, including 23 children, 13 women, and five individuals who died under torture.
The organisation stated that its findings are based on continuous incident monitoring, analysis of photos and video footage, and information gathered through an extensive network of sources.

In a previous report, the SNHR revealed that at least 194 cases of arbitrary arrest were recorded in February, including seven children and five women.
While the April report focuses on arrests and detentions carried out by various parties involved in the Syrian conflict, it excludes action taken by Turkish-backed factions. It also omits arrests related to common criminal activity, such as murder, theft, and drug offences, focusing solely on politically motivated detentions and those connected to freedom of expression and opposition activity.
Last week, the SNHR published a separate report outlining its vision for achieving transitional justice in Syria. The group warned that the country stands at a critical juncture, requiring urgent steps toward addressing the enduring legacy of widespread human rights violations.
The organisation said it has built a comprehensive database containing millions of facts, issued more than 1,800 reports and statements throughout the conflict, and compiled an extensive list of approximately 16,200 individuals implicated in human rights abuses over the years.
