Latakia, Syria – Fierce clashes broke out between the Syrian Military Operations Directorate and armed Assad loyalists after the latter launched an attack on the National Hospital in Latakia on Friday evening.
According to the official Syrian news agency SANA, a source from the Ministry of Defense in Syria’s caretaker government stated that “Assad “remnants” carried out an attack near Ibn Sina Hospital in Latakia, before being repelled by Ministry of Defense forces.”

The source further reported that “military and security forces are executing high-precision operations against the “remnants” of the ousted president Bashar al-Assad’s regime in the city of Qardaha, rural Latakia.”
On Friday, the Military Operations Directorate entered the city of Jableh in rural Latakia following violent clashes with armed Assad loyalists, resulting in casualties on both sides, according to a military source speaking to +963.
The source added that the Military Operations Directorate deployed drones, helicopters, and medium-to-heavy weaponry in the battles against the loyalists of the ousted regime.
Meanwhile, the pro-Assad forces launched mortar and artillery shelling targeting security forces and reinforcements belonging to the Military Operations Directorate and Security Forces during the clashes in Jableh and its surrounding areas, the military source reported.

Videos circulated on social media showed military and civilian vehicles engulfed in flames, reportedly set ablaze by the loyalists of the former regime in Jableh.
Additionally, the Syrian Military Operations Directorate successfully broke a siege that had been imposed on its forces in Qardaha, rural Latakia, according to SANA.
A military source revealed to +963 on Friday that 100 members of the Military Operations Directorate and General Security had been killed in the ongoing battles in Latakia and Tartous.
