Latakia, Syria – The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) reported on Friday that 125 civilians have been killed by government security forces, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior in Syria’s caretaker government. The killings took place during military operations in Latakia, Tartous, and Hama provinces.
According to SNHR, more than 50 civilians were executed without trial, with Al-Araby TV reporting that field executions were carried out inside homes in the city of Baniyas, located in Tartous province. The report also highlighted mass executions in rural Latakia, where 40 civilians were killed in Al-Mukhtariyah village. An additional 10 civilians were reportedly executed in the town of Al-Haffa, their bodies left on the streets.
In Hama province, SNHR documented the killing of five civilians in the village of Bustan Al-Fandara, near Masyaf, whose bodies were abandoned along the roads.
The clashes between government Security forces and loyalists to the ousted regime have also resulted in significant casualties among combatants. A military source reported to +963 that 100 members of the Military Operations Directorate and Security Forces were killed earlier on Friday during battles in the coastal region. The source added that the fighting remains intense, with further casualties expected.
SNHR has also accused the Military Operations Directorate of incorporating foreign fighters who are allegedly carrying out summary executions of civilians inside their homes in Baniyas, Tartous.
Meanwhile, military forces aligned with the current administration have reportedly made significant territorial gains against the loyalists to the ousted regime in Jableh and Qardaha, both located in western Syria. The military source indicated that the pro-Assad forces have lost key positions they previously used to launch attacks on Military Operations Directorate and Security Forces in Latakia province.
As clashes continue to escalate, the death toll is expected to rise, with heavy fighting still ongoing in several parts of the Syrian coast.
