The current transitional path has not yet matured into a stable structure despite the fall of the previous regime. A wide network of local armed groups, the presence of foreign actors, and the influence of regional powers such as Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Israel make the Syrian trajectory dependent on a formula of security through regional consensus rather than autonomous national security.<\/p>\n

Dr. al-Yemeni counts on the possibility of this trajectory, saying, \u201cThe scenario of opening and stability remains possible if diplomatic engagement is coupled with partial settlements in security, accountability, and reconstruction files.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cThe path is fragile but attainable, provided that the interests of the Gulf, Turkey, Russia, and the West are aligned.\u201d<\/p>\n

From a security standpoint, military adviser Safaa al-Asam warns in statements to +963 that the absence of reorganization could quickly turn into a threat. He stresses, \u201cThe security situation in Syria requires comprehensive restructuring and precise organization, otherwise the fragmentation of armed forces may lead to a wide explosion.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasizes the need to avoid repeating Iraq\u2019s mistakes: \u201cDismantling the army as happened in Iraq will lead to disastrous chaos and destroy the dignity of the military profession.\u201d<\/p>\n

Politically and socially, Professor Kamel Hawwash, writer and political analyst, states to +963 that success is conditional on a realistic political settlement. \u201cThe transition toward gradual stability is possible but slow, and it depends on a no victor no vanquished agreement that brings together parties from the regime, the opposition, and local administrations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scenario of Regional Complexities and International Pressure \u2013 Frozen Stability <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Here the transitional phase persists formally but remains paralyzed due to regional competition and the sanctions file. Dr. al-Yemeni views this scenario as the most likely in the medium term. \u201cThe most probable scenario is a state of neither war nor peace, limited opening, and partial reconstruction under political and economic constraints.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cAny understandings between Moscow, the Gulf, Ankara, and Washington may push toward stability, while clashes among them would reproduce chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n

Professor Hawwash highlights the dilemma of legitimacy and trust within the transitional structure. \u201cThe interim authority suffers from deep mistrust and fragile representation of some components, and the presence of arms and informal economic networks obstructs any new social contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scenario of Security Escalation and Return to Chaos \u2013 A Real Threat <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Any failure in arms control, an economic collapse, or sectarian flare-ups could drag the country back into cycles of violence. Al-Asam warns clearly, \u201cThe most dangerous scenario is the return of jihadist organizations and rising sectarian tension, and there have been reports of mass killings in recent days.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cWithout distancing armed groups and bringing social components closer, the Iraqi experience during the rise of ISIS may be repeated.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, al-Yemeni links the danger of chaos to regional competition. \u201cA return to chaos is possible if competition intensifies between Turkey and Iran or if authorities fail to contain security conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawwash connects it to economic collapse. \u201cAny severe economic setback may trigger security backlash or partial state disintegration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Between Security, Economy, and Legitimacy <\/strong><\/h2>\n

A range of factors shape which scenario prevails, most notably: the interim authority\u2019s ability to impose decisions on the army, security bodies, and armed factions; the degree of success in integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces, opposition factions, and former Iran aligned formations; the positions of the United States, Russia, the European Union, and the Gulf regarding sanctions and reconstruction; and the scale of economic recovery and the government\u2019s ability to improve services and prevent social collapse.<\/p>\n

Al-Yemeni concludes within this framework, \u201cEarly indicators will determine which scenario is approaching realization, but the most likely outcome is relative stability under persistent political and security constraints.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawwash stresses that transforming the transition into a success story \u201crequires rare international consensus,\u201d while al-Asam warns that any misstep in restructuring may return the country to \u201cthe circle of open violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Syria appears headed toward a phase of conditional stability that may remain frozen for a long period, with the possibility of sliding into chaos if security and economic arrangements falter. Although the projected scenarios may merge into a single trajectory in which one file advances as another retreats, observers agree that the narrow window of stability remains open.
