The first signs of this shift began with a wave of major foreign investments, revitalizing domestic economic activity. All of this suggests that Syria\u2019s economy is entering a new phase, one that could make it a key player in the politically unstable Eastern Mediterranean. In turn, Syria\u2019s economic revival could pave the way for political stability, creating an environment where citizens can live in peace and security.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Investment in Digital Technology<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \u201cSyrian Saudi Investment Forum\u201d, launched on July 25, saw the signing of agreements worth more than $6.4 billion in total, the largest deal in Syria in over a decade. Among the most notable agreements was a contract in the field of digital (cyber) security, sparking serious questions: Could Syria soon witness a qualitative leap in its digital sector?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Digital expert Amir Dadak told <\/span><b>+963<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that \u201cinvestment in technology is among the fastest-growing sectors worldwide, especially with rapid advances in artificial intelligence and the high returns compared to other sectors. However, such investments require an advanced, fully integrated infrastructure. It sees Syria as a promising, untapped digital market. This is why it signed a $1.6 billion agreement to develop the cyber security sector, a strong incentive to rebuild a sector that suffered extensive damage in recent years. Saudi Arabia aims to be the primary driver of this sector\u2019s growth in Syria.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>A Historic Milestone<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \u201cSyrian Saudi Investment Forum\u201d represents a historic milestone in Syria\u2019s economic path, particularly in the digital sphere. According to IT engineer Ahmad Al-Sayegh, \u201cDirect investments in the telecommunications sector, including agreements with major Saudi companies such as STC and Elm, will help modernize Damascus\u2019 outdated networks, expand fiber-optic infrastructure, and support 5G projects that Syria currently lacks. This could make Damascus far more attractive to local and international startups, potentially turning it into a regional technology hub.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al-Sayegh added that, given Saudi Arabia\u2019s technological advancement, it\u2019s crucial that these new investments include training programs for Syrian digital talent. \u201cThis could spark a transformative wave in digitizing public and private sector institutions, while creating jobs for Syrian youth, many of whom are considering emigration but might reconsider if advanced tech work environments emerge. Such investments could be a genuine incentive for Syrian minds to stay and contribute to building a high-tech future for the country within a short period.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Betting on Youth<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Syria\u2019s rise, driven by this surge of Arab investment, is not an unattainable dream, provided serious efforts are made to repair the damage of past years. The country\u2019s youthful, tech-enthusiastic generation is expected to be at the forefront of this new phase.
