A fighter doesn\u2019t fall only from blows. He falls too when ropes tighten slowly, silently, until they choke him; while he still stands.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s Hezbollah today: still standing, still raising its voice and shaking its fist, yet suffocating. Not because it chose to retreat, but because the rope has tightened from every direction. It\u2019s a rare image for a group that once had its grip around everyone else\u2019s neck, now struggling to save its own.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the south came the first rope. Israel, the enemy Hezbollah claimed to terrify, delivered a new kind of lesson. Not just in airstrikes and assassinations, but in the humiliating inability to respond. Senior commanders were killed, convoys destroyed, strategic sites bombed. All while Israeli warplanes roamed freely over Beirut\u2019s southern suburb and the Bekaa Valley. The “Resistance” didn\u2019t fire a single shot of real value. It neither deterred nor protected. Even its recycled threats of \u201cresponding at the right time and place\u201d have become a punchline more than a warning.<\/span><\/p>\n

The defeat isn\u2019t in the loss of a battle; it\u2019s in the silence, the stagnation, and the realization that Hezbollah\u2019s arms have become hollow symbols. Tools of internal suppression, not of resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the east came the second rope. Syria, the strategic backbone of Hezbollah for decades, has crumbled. Not suddenly, but piece by piece. From the moment Russia became the de facto ruler, to the Arabs returning as overseers, to Bashar al-Assad being reduced to a minor governor on a regional chessboard. The Syrian regime is no longer an ally; it is a costly liability, run by those who have a long-standing grudge against Hezbollah.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even worse, people in Syria and Lebanon no longer view Hezbollah as a comrade-in-arms or a resistance supporter. They see it as a foreign militia that prolonged wars, entrenched suffering, and protected the very regimes that crushed their dreams. In Damascus, Aleppo, Suwayda, Daraa, Tripoli, Zahle, and Beirut, the name Hezbollah no longer evokes admiration, it sparks anger. To the average Syrian or Lebanese, it\u2019s not a liberator. It\u2019s another face of occupation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The third rope comes from Tehran. Iran, once poised to become a major regional power, has retreated. Its decades-built image was shredded in a matter of days. Israeli strikes reached deep inside Iranian territory, by air, sea, and cyber means. Just as Hezbollah appeared impotent in Lebanon, Iran showed rare vulnerability. It can no longer fund its proxies as before, not with cash, nor political cover. Struggling under sanctions, it now desperately negotiates for their removal to save its collapsing economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

And so, Hezbollah finds itself surrounded: a mother (Iran) drained by sanctions, an ally (Syria) reduced to irrelevance, an enemy (Israel) striking freely, and a domestic scene growing ever more suffocating.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inside Lebanon, the noose tightens. Hezbollah is no longer untouchable. The fear has cracked. The aura has faded. Voices rise, even from within its own Shia base. Gebran Bassil, once a loyal ally, now says weapons should be in the state’s hands. Tony Frangieh, heir to the Damascus connection, calls for an end to dual power. Even the Lebanese government made a bold move on August 5, pledging to consolidate all arms under state control by year\u2019s end.<\/span><\/p>\n

But most telling is the silent shift among the people. The ordinary folks who don\u2019t write manifestos or appear on TV. The Shia in Lebanon, once patient, once proud, once swayed by slogans, is now quietly asking: <\/span>Until when?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In the south, the Bekaa, the suburbs of Beirut, they want life, not death. Bread, not divine victory. To bury their children of old age, not of war. They no longer understand the cause that once inspired them.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Beirut, Tripoli, Sidon, many now believe Hezbollah is not Lebanon\u2019s shield, but one of the main reasons for its isolation, collapse, and failure to be a sovereign state rather than a battlefield.<\/span><\/p>\n

And so, Hezbollah stands as never before: defeated by Israel, abandoned by Syria, weakened by Iran, deserted by allies, and scorned by its people\u2026 and its neighbours.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, perhaps the most dangerous defeat lies not in politics, but in the idea. The idea of “resistance” itself, once Hezbollah’s moral compass and source of legitimacy, has worn out. Not because it was a lie, but because it was overused. It didn\u2019t liberate an inch of land, but it was used to destroy nations, crush uprisings, and hunt down dreams.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rope has tightened with dramatic and near-revolutionary speed. A noose made of military setbacks, political scandals, social anger, and moral contradictions. A rope that now coils around the party\u2019s neck; not to choke it instantly, but to whisper:<\/span>
\n<\/span>“You are no longer who you used to be. And people no longer see you as you wanted them to.”<\/b><\/p>\n

The question is no longer <\/span>whether<\/span><\/i> the rope exists.<\/span>
\n<\/span>It\u2019s whether Hezbollah can do anything at all to loosen it.<\/span><\/p>\n
