Some figurines previously assumed to be ritual objects may have actually been toys, the researchers suggest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThey\u2019re often labeled as temple figurines, but we wonder if they were really just toys for children,\u201d Hald added. \u201cThey\u2019re diverse and often quite whimsical.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because most of the toys were recovered in fragmentary condition during excavations, determining their original use remains difficult.
