Job Title:
Journalistic Translators (Arabic to English or vice versa)
English-language Journalist (Website + Multimedia)
Working Hours and Location:
Full-time remote, 40 hours per week. Preferably located in Syria or neighboring countries, and must be in the GMT+2, or GMT+3 time zones.

+963 is an independent media association focused on Syrian affairs. Since its launch on March 1, 2024, we have been committed to supporting human rights, promoting democracy, and rejecting hate speech through reports, investigations, opinion pieces, and video features.
Our mission is to foster peaceful coexistence, rebuild Syria’s social fabric, and promote constructive dialogue among diverse communities. We also leverage social media to spread positive and educational messages, countering harmful narratives.
The +963 team addresses human rights issues, particularly those affecting women, minorities, and youth, while raising awareness of democracy and freedom of expression. We provide accurate, impartial news coverage to combat misinformation and promote understanding and positive change in Syrian society.
Journalistic Translators (Arabic to English or vice versa)
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in journalistic translation, preferably in a newsroom environment.
- Skills:
- Excellent proficiency in Arabic and English.
- Strong understanding of journalistic writing styles and news content.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of local and regional news and politics.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately translate news articles, reports, and press releases from Arabic to English or vice versa.
- Ensure translations maintain journalistic style, tone, and clarity.
- Collaborate with editors to produce accurate and timely content.
- Conduct fact-checking to ensure accuracy of translated content.
- Adapt content to suit the target English-speaking audience.
English-language Journalist
Requirements:
- Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English Literature, or Communications.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a news editor in an English-language publication.
- Skills:
- Strong editorial and proofreading skills.
- Ability to edit content for clarity, style, and accuracy.
- Familiarity with AFP or Reuters style guide.
- Creativity in headline writing.
- Understanding of SEO best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Edit and proofread articles to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to journalistic standards.
- Create engaging headlines and subheadings that attract readers.
- Ensure all content aligns with the website’s editorial style and tone.
- Collaborate with writers and translators to improve content quality.
- Monitor news trends and ensure timely publishing of news articles.
- Optimize content for digital platforms and SEO.
Additional Requirements for Both Roles:
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and social media.
- Flexibility and adaptability to fast-paced news environments.
